More and more people are benefiting from the early detection of cancer and its successful treatment. These advances are improving both quality of life and length of survival among people diagnosed with cancer. Cancer survivorship is a state of being, including the perspectives, needs, health, and the physical, psychological, social, and economic challenges experienced by people and caregivers after a cancer diagnosis. Individuals are considered survivors from the time of a cancer diagnosis through the rest of their life. This EBCCP program area includes programs focused on mitigating the impact of cancer and its treatment for survivors and caregivers.
