HPV Vaccination Evidence-Based Programs Listing

The human papillomavirus (HPV) is a very common virus that can cause 6 types of cancer later in life. About 13 million people, including teens, become infected with HPV each year and long-lasting infections with high-risk HPVs cause about 36,000 cases of cancer in both men and women. HPV vaccination provides safe, effective, and lasting protection against the HPV infections that most commonly cause cancer. The HPV vaccine series is most effective when given before a person is exposed to the virus. This EBCCP program area includes interventions to increase HPV vaccination.
